Atsushi Ogata | Earth Bowl

This Earth Bowl by Atsushi Ogata was made at his studio in Uda, Nara Prefecture. Reduction firing gives the piece its distinctive deep, lustrous black finish.

A crack formed on the inner base during firing, but it has been carefully repaired and sealed to prevent water leakage.

1998 — Established his own studio in Seto, Aichi Prefecture
2007 — Relocated his studio to Uda, Nara Prefecture
2009 — Built a noborigama climbing kiln
